AMA Supercross Championship (Picture 1)

The AMA Supercross Championship, one of the American motorcycle competitions, was established by the American Motorcycle Association (AMA) in 1954. It originally contained five different race formats: one-mile cinder track race, half-mile cinder track race, short track race, TT cross-country obstacle race and road race, also known as flat track race. From the early 1950s to the late 1970s, the National Motorcycle Championships have been the nation's premier motorcycle series. In 1973, super-conscious Americans moved long-term motocross cross-country events in remote rural areas into urban stadiums, which greatly promoted the development of cross-country events. The Supercross Championship was officially held in 1974, trying to compete with the increasingly hot cross-country events in Europe. The AMA Supercross Championship is dominated by AMA and sponsored by Monster Energy. The word Supercross itself is also a combination of Super Bowl and Motocross.

AMA American Motorcycle Association is a non-profit organization in the United States. It consists of more than 300,000 motorcycle enthusiasts and holds a large number of motorcycle competitions. The mission of the organization is "to protect and promote the interest of motorcycle enthusiasts while serving the needs of members". The organization was founded in 1924 and has more than 1,200 clubs. For clubs and sponsors, the organization provides advice on competition and alliance issues, and also allows members to vote on related issues. The organization is also a cooperative representative of the American motorcycle industry.

The Supercross race consists of dirt roads, rapid ramps and obstacles. The competition lasts from January to mid-May every year and consists of 17 rounds of 450cc, eight rounds of 250cc in the west and eight rounds of 250cc in the east in 14 venues scattered throughout North America. From the 1970s to the 1980s, American motorcycles proved to be fertile ground for world champions in road races. The AMA Supercross Championship currently uses 450cc four-stroke racing cars and 250cc four-stroke racing cars. Like other events, the AMA Supercross Championship has undergone many changes. In 1994, the women’s competition was established. In 2006, the 250cc event was renamed the MX event, the 125cc event was renamed the MX Lite event, and in 2009 it was renamed the 450 event and the 250 event.
