The Three Gorges Dam is located in Sandouping Town, Yichang City, Hubei Province, China. It is 38 kilometers away from the downstream Gezhouba Water Conservancy Project. It is the main hydropower project in the world, the main project of the Three Gorges Hydropower Station and the core landscape of the Three Gorges Dam Tourist Area. The eastern end of the Three Gorges Reservoir. The Three Gorges Dam project consists of two parts, the main building and the diversion project. The total length is about 3335m and the dam height is 185m. The total investment of the project is 95.46 billion yuan. It was officially started on December 14, 1994. May 20, 2006 The entire line was successfully built.

The dam of the Three Gorges Hydropower Station is 185 meters high, with a normal water storage capacity of 175 meters, a reservoir length of 2,335 meters, a static investment of 135.266 billion yuan, and installation of 32 hydropower units with a single unit capacity of 700,000 kilowatts. The last hydropower unit of the Three Gorges Power Station was put into operation on July 4, 2012. This means that the Three Gorges Hydropower Station with an installed capacity of 22.4 million kilowatts has become the world's largest hydropower station and clean energy production base on July 4, 2012. . In December 2015, the Three Gorges Dam was selected as one of the 30 best tourist new landscapes in the Three Gorges of the Yangtze River.

With the approval of the National Defense General, the Three Gorges Reservoir officially launched the fourth 175-meter experimental storage at 0:00 on September 10, 2011. By 19:00 on the 18th, the reservoir water level had reached 160.18 meters. On July 23, 2012, the Three Gorges Hub opened seven flood discharges for deep hole discharge. The upstream water flow surged to 46,000 cubic meters per second. On July 24, 2012, the Three Gorges Dam's warehousing flow reached 71,200 cubic meters per second, which was the biggest flood peak encountered since the Three Gorges Reservoir was built.

The Three Gorges Project is by far the most comprehensive water conservancy hub in the world, playing a huge role in flood control and shipping. After the completion of the Three Gorges Dam, a reservoir of up to 600 kilometers was formed, which was staged to store water and became a rare new landscape in the world. After the completion of the project, the reservoir has a normal water storage capacity of 175 meters, a flood storage capacity of 22.15 billion cubic meters, and a total storage capacity of 39.3 billion cubic meters, which can fully exert its key backbone function in the flood control system of the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River, and will significantly improve the Yangtze River Yichang to Chongqing's 660-kilometer waterway, 10,000-ton fleet can directly reach Chongqing Port, and will play 10 major benefits such as flood control, power generation, shipping, breeding, tourism, South-to-North Water Transfer, and water supply irrigation.

Since September 25, 2014, the Three Gorges Dam tourist attractions have free tickets for Chinese tourists (including Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan compatriots, overseas Chinese).
